At Hospice Whanganui, every partnership helps us do more for patients and whānau. Since June, Low Cost Bins has been supporting Hospice Whanganui, helping ensure more of our resources can go where they matter most – into patient care and whānau support.
How it helps:
While we recycle as much as possible (from paper and cardboard to plastics, scrap metal, and electrical items) there are always items we receive that simply can’t be reused. Broken furniture, stained or damaged clothing, chipped homewares, and other unusable donations are an inevitable part of running busy Hospice shops.
The support of Low Cost Bins helps us manage this challenge sustainably, allowing our team to focus on what matters most: caring for our community.
An added community benefit:
Low Cost Bins has also gone one step further by setting up a dedicated bin at the Whanganui Re:Sort Transfer Station & Resource Recovery Centre. When visiting with your rubbish load, you can also drop off quality reusable items that deserve a second chance at life.
Hospice Whanganui collects these items and gives them a new home through our shops, helping keep good items out of landfill while turning generosity into vital funds for free hospice care.
Why it matters:
Partnerships like this strengthen both Hospice Whanganui and our wider community. They help us operate sustainably, reduce waste, and ensure more of our time and resources can be directed toward supporting patients and whānau.
“We’re proud to support Hospice by helping keep reusable items out of landfill and giving them a second life that benefits our community.” says Jamie Houia, Low Cost Bins.
We are incredibly grateful to Jamie and the team at Low Cost Bins for their ongoing support. Their generosity not only supports Hospice Whanganui, but also encourages our community to recycle, reuse, and care for one another in meaningful ways.
