VOLUNTEER NEWS

March 2026

Our first Volunteer News issue for 2026 is now available, and it’s full of updates from across Hospice Whanganui.

In this edition, Helen reflects on what has already been a busy start to the year, acknowledging the incredible contribution volunteers make across our organisation and highlighting recent community support, including our Hospice Whanganui Meet & Greet and the Bullocks Group concrete truck partnership through our Business Champions programme.

This issue also looks ahead to two community events coming up soon: Hittaz for Hospice at the Whanganui Racecourse on 22 March, and Small Talks for Hospice on 5 May at Heritage House. Both events help bring people together in support of hospice care in our community.

Inside the newsletter, you’ll also find:

  • a volunteer profile on Maureen from Boutique
  • a staff profile on Anna, Hospice Whanganui Nurse Lead
  • the launch of a new Data Driven, Human Led section, beginning with the story behind the 48,000 kilometres travelled by our Hospice cars over the last year
  • an update on our Behind the Counter storytelling campaign and new in-store touchpoints
  • volunteer anniversaries, welcomes, and orientation information.

We’re so grateful to every volunteer who gives their time, care, and aroha to Hospice Whanganui. Your contribution makes a real difference to the patients and whānau we support across our region.
