Hospice Whanganui has an in-patient
unit with fully equipped ensuite rooms,
overlooking our gardens.
While the majority of the people we support are cared for in the place they call home, sometimes patients may benefit from some time in the Hospice Whanganui inpatient unit.
Our inpatient unit, located at 78 Virginia Road, provides the option for short-term stays to support patients with acute needs (whether these are physical or social), to provide care at the ‘end of life’ or to provide short-term respite.
What to Expect from a Stay at our In-Patient Unit
- Your individual needs and those of your whānau will be discussed and a plan made with you to ensure your admission is as smooth as possible
- On arrival, our team will provide you with all the information you need to make your short stay comfortable and you will have 24/7 clinical care
- You will have access to a cosy room with two beds, an ensuite, a TV, internet, all overlooking our beautiful gardens
- Your whānau will be able to visit anytime and have access to a separate lounge where they can relax, make warm drinks and simple meals
- You will receive food and drinks throughout your stay depending on your needs and dietary requirements

Please reach out to one of our team if you would like to explore this option and we will discuss your individual needs with you. We also have fully equipped facilities for whānau to stay with you while you are in the unit.
