At Hospice Whanganui, we are constantly reminded of the incredible generosity that exists within our community – and our recent invitation to a morning tea with G.O.M.E. (Grumpy Old Men Enterprises) was a perfect example.

At the end of October, our team joined the G.O.M.E. whānau to celebrate a remarkable milestone. For the past 10 years, G.O.M.E. has been quietly supporting community organisations throughout Whanganui. What began as a group of friends wanting to “do good and have fun” has grown into a powerhouse of everyday kindness. Their impact is extraordinary: $600,000 donated locally over a decade.

During the morning tea, Hospice Whanganui was honoured to receive a $1,000 donation, presented with warmth, humour, and the genuine heart this group is known for. Our team loved spending time hearing stories of the many lives they’ve touched around Whanganui.

Their support helps us continue providing free specialist palliative care to patients and whānau – care grounded in dignity, choice, and aroha.

To the G.O.M.E. whānau: ngā mihi nui. Your dedication to uplifting our community makes a very real difference, and we are deeply grateful for your continued support.
