Whanganui’s own Bullocks Group has been shaping our city for nearly a century. Now, at 97 years young, they’ve turned one of their concrete trucks into a vehicle for community care.

The newly branded Hospice Whanganui truck was unveiled on Monday 29 September at Bullocks’ yard. For every cubic metre of concrete poured by this truck, Bullocks will donate $1 directly to Hospice Whanganui – helping ensure patients and their whānau receive free, specialist palliative care 24/7.

Bullocks Managing Director, Willy Morrell, credits his cousin Ivan for sparking the idea. “We’re proud to back Hospice Whanganui – they provide such a critical service for people and their whānau, and this felt like a meaningful way we could help. Our hope is that this inspires other businesses to find their own ways to support Hospice too.”

Hospice Whanganui CEO, Helen Leslie, expressed her gratitude: “It costs over $4 million each year to provide our services, and with only half of that funded by government, we rely on the aroha and generosity of our community. Partnerships like this – alongside donations, retail shops, fundraising events and bequests – keep Hospice here for everyone, when it matters most.”

The striking truck graphics were designed and installed by Morrie Gibbons Signs, who also generously discounted their work to support the project.
