Remembrance Service 2019

Remembrance Service 2019

Type: Community Event
Time/Date: 2:00pm - 3:30pm, 17 November 2019
Location: Hospice Whanganui, 78 Virginia Road.

The annual Hospice Whanganui Remembrance Service will take place on Sunday, 17th November at 2pm to 3.30pm, at Hospice Whanganui, 78 Virginia Road, Whanganui. We will be sitting inside and will also use the garden area, so if you would like to bring a blanket to sit and relax outside and enjoy the setting our wonderful volunteers have created, you are free to do so (weather permitting). The service will be led by our Pastoral Support, David Bebarfald and members of Hospice staff will also participate.

The members of our Hospice Whanganui Team would like to invite people from the Whanganui community to join us for the service, celebrate and pay tribute to our loved ones – to remember the joy that they have brought to our lives and the lives of others.

It is an important part of who we are as Hospice to provide an environment that is peaceful and supportive, and offer the opportunity for family/whanau and friends of loved ones to come together to share, remember and support one another.

Our service will offer music, song, poems and prayer, the lighting of candles and the opportunity to reflect.  Light is considered pure; it signifies that the memory of those we love and miss, still lives on and burns bright. As part of the service you are welcome to light a candle in memory of those you have loved and lost.

After the Remembrance Service we will have refreshments available, and our beautiful gardens will be open for you to enjoy.  It’s a chance to wander through this gorgeous setting, talk with others, reacquaint with staff, and remember with love.
