Suitable for professionals working with whānau in health settings

A course specifically designed to meet the needs of caregivers working in all care
settings – home care, aged residential care and hospital care.
This course offers an opportunity to improve skills, knowledge and understanding in
palliative care, enabling the delivery of excellent care to patients and whānau.


Course Content
Principles of palliative care.
Understanding pain and other common symptoms.
Communicating with and supporting the dying person and their whānau/ family.
Caring in the last days of life.
Understanding loss and grief.


2-part course – 8 hours delivered over 2-3hr sessions

1 part course 6 hrs.
