Our Services
Good news, you’re in good hands
Hospice Whanganui is not just a building, but a special way of caring for you. Our expert staff understand the impact a life limiting illness can have, not only on the person diagnosed but also on their family and friends.
Caring for you
Hospice Whanganui provides specialist palliative care for people living with any life threatening, life limiting disease. This often means cancer but also includes other illnesses that are no longer curative, such as Heart Failure, Multiple Sclerosis, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, or Motor Neurone Disease, for example.
Care and support is offered through a wide range of services that are tailor made to meet the needs of individuals. This care is extended to carers, families and friends.
Caring for the whole family
Hospice Whanganui recognises the particular strain on family and friends who are caring for someone with a life threatening, life limiting illness at home. Carers can be anyone living with the responsibility of caring in this way, and often have varying support needs that we are dedicated to meeting.
Every Hospice service is committed to assessing the needs of carers individually and as part of the care set up within their homes. Carers remain included in care at the level they choose.
To ensure this happens we can offer a variety of services, practical support, financial advice and training that will help you in your caring role, as well as emotional support to help with your own well-being.
